Aluminum Industry: ALCAN, Lauralco, Reynolds & others
Various project managers and engineers including Bechtel & SNC-Lavalin
In a series of contracts, Supermetal erectors have worked as members of much larger construction teams to develop state-of-the-art aluminum smelters for ALCAN and other major aluminum producers. Supermetal has been involved in the construction of seven aluminum smelting or casting facilities.
Abitibi-Consolidated
Engineer: N.L.K. Montréal Project Manager: RPA, Toronto
Supermetal completed construction of the 3000-ton Iroquois Falls paper mill in 1995. The project was developed in fast-track mode and completed ahead of schedule.
Falconbridge Mines
Engineer and project manager: Bechtel Quebec
Twelve modules that were to serve as a concentrator and power plant for Falconbridge's Raglan mining project were pre-assembled at a dockside staging area in Quebec City. After pre-assembly, the ten-storey modules were inched onto barges for a 2,600-nautical mile journey to northern Quebec, where a team of Supermetal erectors completed the intricate assembly.
Potash Company of America
Engineer: Kilborn
A 1,000-ton conveyor-belt system at multiple levels was fabricated and erected in sections nearly 150 feet long.
Q.I.T. - Fer & Titane
Engineer: Hatch & Associates, Montreal
At this large iron mill in Quebec, 25-ton trusses were carefully erected within inches of operating smelter stacks.
Sun Microsystems
Project Manager: Whiting-Turner
Supermtal oversaw the installation of 4,040 tons of structural and decorative steel during the construction of Sun Microsystems' new campus in Burlington, MA. Because of time constraints, Supermetal had to construct two of the buildings simultaneously.
