The $118 million Ambulatory Care Facility Building Renaissance Project consisted of a new Ambulatory Care Facility, a Patient Access Center, and an Education Center that was built in collaboration with the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
Fletcher Allen Hospital has undergone an extensive overhaul of their campus to improve and update patient delivery systems. The centerpiece of the project has been a new Ambulatory Care Facility (ACF) that creates modern outpatient clinics, hospital ancillaries and teaching space, and includes an outpatient surgical center and day hospital.
A Massive Expansion
The new ACF also contains the new Cancer Center with Radiation Oncology and Chemotherapy Clinics, a new core laboratory, an updated Emergency Department and Radiology. Dust, noise, and vibration control have been paramount throughout the project.
Coordinated with the University of Vermont, the Education and Conference Center features meeting space, a health education center, and a 250-seat auditorium, a new medical library, lecture halls, small group rooms, simulation laboratories and a medical information center.
The patient access center will create a new entrance, linking the ambulatory care facility, the main hospital, the education center, and the health science complex. A new multi-level underground 1000 car garage serves all facilities.
An Award Winner
Supermetal Structures was awarded the structural steel contract including the fabrication and installation for the entire project. The very restrained site which had to remain fully operational for ambulances and patients made it challenging for just on time deliveries. Another project flawlessly completed by Supermetal Structures inc.
