Whatever the season, every week dozens of trucks transport hundreds of tons of raw steel to our fabrication plant in St. Romuald:
- Average weekly deliveries: 600 tons
- 40,000 square feet under the traveling cranes
- 5000 to 10,000 tons of steel in inventory
- 4 traveling cranes
The steel comes by truck, rail and ship from mills across Canada, the USA and Europe. It arrives as H-beams, I-beams, bars, plates, tubes and rods, with individual pieces weighing up to several tons.
Four powerful overhead cranes (each with a 10-ton capacity) keep the receiving process moving quickly, and 40,000 square feet of well-organized storage space maintains enough inventory to ensure that even the largest projects have the materials they need on hand as production proceeds.
Each piece of steel we receive is quickly color-coded and tagged with a number that will be used to track it (and pieces cut from it) right through to the erection process.
