The type and amount of paint used for a particular project is always dependant on the particular conditions of the project and the client's specifications. We work with our clients to decide what is right for their needs, based on the corrosive atmosphere at the project location (wet/dry climate, proximity to salt water) and the number of years the property owner would like the building to be protected.
Our two climate-controlled painting rooms cover an area of 20,000 square feet. In these rooms, Supermetal's crew of forty expert painters (in three teams) employ all types of modern coating techniques. Sophisticated airless pumps, with pressures up to 3000psi, create very fine and precise mists of paint that are essential to creating a perfectly level surface.
We normally keep as much as 8,000 gallons of paint on hand to ensure that the painting department can keep up with the rest of the fabricating line.
Supermetal has achieved the Sophisticated Paint Endorsement from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
The AISC defines this endorsement as follows:
The Sophisticated Paint Endorsement is a quality certification program designed to evaluate the qualifications of structural steel fabricators who apply sophisticated or industrial protective coatings such as zincs, epoxies, urethanes, or multi-coat systems in their paint shops following fabrication.
The Sophisticated Paint Endorsement meets quality program criteria of SSPC-QP3: Standard Procedure for Evaluating the Qualifications of Shop Application Firms.
There are currently three Paint Endorsements available:
- P1: Sophisticated Paint Endorsement - Enclosed
- P2: Sophisticated Paint Endorsement - Covered
- P3: Sophisticated Paint Endorsement - Exterior
