Turning 50 doesn't happen every day. For a manufacturing business like Supermetal, it's an occasion to measure the distance we've come in order to assess our strengths and plan our future. This naturally leads to the subject of teamwork.
Since its founding in Quebec in 1959, Supermetal has made teamwork a priority. For us, the recipe for success depends on the motivation of each employee. From the design to the erection of structural steel, from computer drafting to the smallest liitle weld, every link in the chain is important. Each employee is called upon to add his best and work together with his colleagues to achieve a product and service that go beyond industry standards and clients' expectations. As in a symphony orchestra, each employee's outdoing himself is the ideal to strive for, hence the vital importance of teamwork.
To establish real team spirit, takes a great deal of determination. The company must be based on solid values like respect, listening, dialogue, sharing of knowledge and information, as well as encouragement. We must cultivate the best in everyone - humility, empathy and open-mindedness. We have to learn how to accept mistakes, and even see them as opportunities to learn. We have to get used to depending on others and ourselves. We must seek satisfaction not in individual achievement but in that of the group.

Certainly, team spirit takes time and effort, but the results are worth it. It's not unusual for our employees to stay with us for 5, 10, 15, even 25 and 30 years or more. We are all happy that Supermetal has experienced more than three decades of labour peace. We are proud to see our projects growing, our influence expanding from Quebec to North America, our order book full, and our clients telling us again and again how satisfied they are.
Challenges there are and challenges there will be. Changes will come - we can always count on that. Competition, pressure, constraints, most certainly. But one thing stays the same at Supermetal, one thing that has resulted in our past success and that will be the source of our future success, and that's teamwork.
The future together since 1959 - under this banner I wish a Happy 50th anniversary to all!
